Hi! My name is Lisa. I've been a caregiver for 10 years or more, and I live in San Antonio, TX.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because of one of my loved ones, which is my mother, who became very ill, and I love helping people recover from any illness that they may have and help rehabilitate them to be back, in working ability.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, to always be polite and honest to the person that you're giving care to, patience, and understanding. Let them know what you are about to do, as far as helping them is concerned.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I would never forget was Loretta. She had a stroke and I was very patient and understanding with her. I helped her around the house. I helped her walk. I helped her with her speech. I talked slowly so she could understand everything that I had to say and what we were doing, and she was very happy with what I helped her with. And I worked with her for three years, so she loved me.
