Hi, my name is Maggie. I live in Stockton,CA. My experience in caregiving is over three years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver when I was 18-year-old. I took care of my god brother. He had muscular dystrophy. I took care of him all the way up until he passed. That was something that I enjoyed doing and I found something in myself but I enjoyed doing something like that so I made it a career.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a caregiver is treat someone like you want to be treated. Treat someone like how you want someone to treat your loved one, your mother, your brother, your sister, your child. Treat someone how you want to be treated is the best advice I can give someone.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is, her name is Carolyn. I took care of her husband and even though her caregivers had to work on Christmas it was so awesome that she allowed the caregivers to eat her with her family to bring in the holiday because we had to work to take care of her husband. So to say thank you we were able to sit down with her family and eat and pray with her family. That was awesome.
