Hi, my name is Malaysia. I live in Rodeo, CA and I've been a caregiver for three years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I love interacting with different cultures and different people. I feel you can learn a lot from different age groups, and I also want to become a nurse.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to have patience with different clients, and they should be open minded.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is a client I had named Diangelo. He had cornelius disease, cerebral palsy. He couldn't eat, he couldn't talk, he couldn't walk, he couldn't see, but somehow he just made his day so much brighter. He used to make beat and sounds with his hands, and he loved music, all different types of music, so I would turn on the radio, and he would just make a beat to go along with it, and I would sing to him, and he would rock back and forth and clap.
