Hi, my name is Manjinder. I live in Pittsburg, CA. I have been a caregiver for two years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I took care of my mom when she got sick and that's how I started with this job. I also worked part time for the eldely. Everybody was interesting, I talked to them, and cared for them. And I love them.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, when working with the elderly, always keep in mind that they need love. Always talk to them, give them care like a family, how you would want your own family member be treated, and do your job.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is this one patient when I started working at the memory care. She would call me and ask me, "Can I get a cup of coffee?", and I would say, "Yes", then she would say, "Oh wait, I don't want to get you in trouble because I know you are busy, so I don't want you to get in trouble, I don't want them to fire you." Then I said, "Oh no, I'm working for you. So if I don't get you coffee, they are going to fire me. If I get you the coffee, they won't.
