Can you tell me a little about yourself and how you got into caregiving?
My name is Cora Rosas. I live in Newark, California and I've been a caregiver since 1989. I became a caregiver when my parents got sick and I told myself I have to educate myself to take care of people.
What piece of advice would you give to a new caregiver?
When working with Alzheimers, I had to then show them whatever they want, you have to satisfy them. Because sometimes you cannot assure them because they have Alzheimers, they can do anything that they don't know what they're doing. You have to keep an eye, like what I said 100%, on the person that you're taking care of. Job or work can wait, but patients, in one minute something will happen. I learned to be a caregiver, a good caregiver because I love people and I love to help people.
