Hi, my name is Maria. I am relocating to Orlando, FL after June 8th. And I have two years experience as a caregiver.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my dad died of cancer and heart attack. He was really sick and I had to take care of him. I had a work, my first job, but if I had to take him to the hospital, or bathe him, give him food, give him all the help that he needed. And that's what inspired me, being a caregiver with him.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be that you have to love to work for the community, be responsible, love to work with the elderly or people with disability, is one of the things, also communicate with them.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is my dad who I took care of for a couple years. He was my best friend. He was my dad. He was my protector. He was my confidant, who I could trust 100%. Due to that, that's why I want to work as a caregiver. To help others who are in need. To help others who are lonely. To help others who I'd give love to them. That is one of my experience.
