Can you tell me a little about yourself and how you got into caregiving?
Hi, I am Maria. I am from San Jose. I am a caregiver for ten years. And I've been a CNA, home health aide, and acute care for two years. I became a caregiver because it started in the family. I've been taking good care of my two sisters, who have regrettably passed away.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client I could never forget, she was a nurse, but when she was terminally ill, she was already declared as a hospice and was given a year to live, or less than a year.
What piece of advice would you give to a new caregiver?
What is your proudest moment as a caregiver?
Once piece of advice to new caregivers, just give all yourself, concentrate on your job. Be very compassionate. It's compassion and love that is the main ingredient in our kind, in our work
.My proudest moment as a caregiver is my client's family. They always give me respect, and they always approve of my services with their family member. Especially if the client is on the verge of dying. They always say, "Thank you, Maria, for your services. You're great. You're wonderful." And I always feel elated, regardless of how tired I am.
