Hi, my name is Maribel. I live in Downey, CA and I have 7 years of caregiving experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I decided to become a caregiver because of a loved one that I cared for as a teenager, and then I grew the passion to help people in need. I since then have become a caregiver for seven years. I love it and I wish to continue with it.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to have a lot of patience and empathy with a resident or patient, because situations change all the time. But with patience, everything comes through alright at the end. And empathy because if you put yourself in somebody's position, then you think of new ways to fix the situation or try to amend it.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Maria. I worked with her in a facility, but she was always very friendly to me. She needed more care than others, so that's why I became a little more attached with her than with the other residents. Sadly she passed, but I will always remember her for being such a great person.
