Hi, my name is Mark, and I lived in North Hills, California, and I've been doing the caregiving for 1 year.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because of our family business. My mom has caregiving agency, and she sent out her caregivers to the patients at home, and they're doing one by one service. So there's one time that my mom needs a caregiver to this one patient, so I volunteered myself to do the caregiving, and after I did the caregiving to that specific patient, I was able to manage it. I was able to handle it. I was able to take care of the patient, and after those, I told myself that I could do this. And right now, I continuing working with my mom as a caregiver.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I would never forget is Milton. Milton is my mom's patient, and he has a dementia, so, basically, he's very quiet. He's not telling you what does he feel, what hurts from him, if he is sick or not. He's not telling you everything about that, but I love the challenge because eventually as I keep on working with this patient, I was able to get his feelings. And even if he's not speaking to me a lot, I was able to recognize if he's hungry, if he's sick, if he's sleepy or tired, something like that. And, of course, he don't recognize me as like every day. That's why as a caregiver, I do my best to perform well so that he would be able to get satisfied.
