Hi, I'm Marla. I live in Sanger, TX and I have had three years experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my mother became an elderly and was rather disabled. And I was not pleased with the quality of care she was given, so I stepped into the future and I was her caregiver until her death.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, to always be observant, be patient, and be kind. There's no replacement for the kindness. Treat every person that you care for as if they were your mother or your father or your child.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Joanne. And we had many, many wonderful times together. She was a gardener. And I would help her by bringing the supplies that she needed to keep her garden growing. And it gave her so much joy. She would sit and watch the hummingbirds. It was a wonderful, wonderful relationship, and I'll never forget it.
