Hi, I'm Mary Ann. I live in Pasedan, CA and I have 12 years experience as a caregiver.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I enjoy working with people and I mostly enjoy where I have one-on-one interaction with patients. I enjoy taking care of elderly and help others. I like older adults to feel that we get along with variety of things. I like doing work that has potential to make a difference in someone's life.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver is to love your patient and treat them like your family. You got to treat them with respect. Whatever they do to you, you don't have to take it personally. The third thing is, you have to take care of your patient really good and treat them like a family to you. That's how the family or the employer will see that, how you take care of their loved ones. They're going to treat you with love and respect in return.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client I would never forget is Joan. She has a very wonderful family and she's a very nice person. She had a stroke and I will never ever forget her.
