Hi, my name is Matthew. I live in Palm Springs, CA and I've been a caregiver for four years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I felt like it was a calling for me. I took care of my dad until he passed away. I do it currently. I've been doing it for four years, and I really like doing what I am doing. I believe caregiving is giving care all the time. Regardless of what you're doing, you should always care for others and care about their emotions and for someone. That's why I am a caregiver.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, to listen to the clients, and learn about your clients, what their needs are, and make sure all of that are met. Be friendly, caring, loving and nurturing. That's what I think is about being a caregiver.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is this client who always had the amazing stories, and I always look forward to the next day to hear another one of his stories. That's why I enjoy being a caregiver, it's always interesting about each and every client, you learn about the client. That's important to me and that's important to them as well. That's what caregiving is all about.
