Hi, my name is Matthew. I live in Pasedena, CA. I have one year experience of caregiving and respite care. I am also a certified nursing assistant.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I had a grandma in the Philippines that I took care of. I am very compassionate about older people - elderly, because I experienced it myself to take care of my own grandma before she died.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, always treat your patient as if they were your own. You can never go wrong when you treat your patient as if they were you mother, father, or your relatives because you only give the best care to your family. It would be something special if you treat them as your own.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
My client I would never forget is John. He is 93 years old with Alzheimer's and dimentia. He was very caring to his kids, and he really loved my caring. Unfortunately, he passed away last year. I was very devestated, because he and I had the connection of like a father and son.
