Hi, my name is Meahsha. I live in Los Angeles, CA and I have two years of caregiving experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I've always been compassionate. Growing up, I have to take care of my grandma and I decided that it's something that I love to do, to take care of people who's not able to take care of themselves and I just want to make things easier for people to understand how hard it is.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to any caregiver would be to stay organized because organization is key. Make sure you don't mix that medication and keep your environment clean.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I'll never forget is my first client, Miss Mary. A few months before she passed away we painted and her painting was so beautiful and quiet with all these different figures and angles and I remember asking her like, "What made you want to paint that?" She said, "This is what I see every day." and it really touched me because for someone to be so sick and to be going through so much pain, for her still to see the world is such a beautiful place, it made me want to continue working and to appreciate the little things around me, it really blessed me and it just made me want to further my career. I'm still helping older people enjoy their last days. I even just get around, help them get around and help them experience the world.
