Hi. My name is Meresia also called as Rebecca. I've been a caregiver for four years. I live in Santa Rosa, California.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became caregiver because I've been looking after my mom and my dad, and I love to do the job. I love to care for elderly. I started doing this job. I really like it, I love it. I treat them as my own parents or grandparents, and I do this with love, with care, compassion, and patience. And most places I've been working with, they really like me because the way I've been treating them. I treating them as my own, and I do my caregiver job with all my heart.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver, when you do this job you do with the best of your ability, with patience, with love, because good [good hearts?]. You are looking after people, they really need your care and they depend on you. And they became like a child, most cases, so they need love. They need comfort. They need people to be patient when you working with them. And give your best, and you do your care from your heart.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client I would never forget, her name is Gloria. I was working with her, look after her, for quite some times, and she passed away. There's so many good memories about her. She's a very kind, very nice lady and she was treating me like I was her own daughter, and we have so many things. She'd been telling a lot of stories from her old days and things like that, and there's so many good memories about her. And we-- I still contact with her families now.
