Hi my name is Metina. I live in Inglewood,CA. I have been a caregiver for 10 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because of my mother who take care of her mother. She was a lady in my church start to get sick and they asked me to take care of her that's how I became a caregiver because of her and my grandmother.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to new caregiver would be you have to have love, kind, patient, and understanding and then you can add on your experience and everything you learned from other people. So, you have to be patient because elderly people and people who don't do much for them but we are the one who can help them to continue in their life.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I would never forget is Magaret. She's a funny person. She always me to share story with her. She talked about her children, she talk about her son who become a professor in the university and we always have fun singing, dancing around. I will never forget her. She share her life and she teach me how doing something at home and I will never forget the way that she act it's the way it's my grandma. She teach me how to bake cake and pie. She share with me all the recipe that she had and she's a very kind person when I take care of her.
