Hi, my name is Mia. I live in Houston, TX and I've been a caregiver for a little over 15 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because of my mother. My mother was having some health issues, and that's how I became a caregiver for over 16 years including the time that I've taken care of my mom as well.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, always to have patience and always consider how would you like for you or your loved ones to be cared for in their own situation or in your own situation.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Miss Marcia. She was diagnosed with progressive Parkinsons over 10 years ago. Nevertheless, I've been her caregiver for the last two years. With that being said, I learned a great deal where being an adult or being responsible for someone else's life that is an adult you learn not to take little bitty tedious situations for granted.
