Hi, my name is Michaela. I live in Fallbrook, CA and I have three years experience in caregiving.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because a family friend asked me to take care of their mother. I did so for a year and after that, she passed away and I stuck with it and found that that was my passion. I love to help other people and it's rewarding. It makes me feel good and I take pride in it.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to have as much patience as they can, to be kind to the clients that they are caregiving for, to always be there for them emotionally, spiritually and to help them whenever they need help.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Ann. I remember she would always get up in the morning and at 7 o'clock, she would want to go outside in her wheelchair to look at the sun, hear all the birds, just enjoy being outside for the morning and having her cup of coffee.
