Hi, my name is Michelle. I live in Gilroy and I have been a caregiver for three years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my grandfather had Alzheimer's. I began caring for him. Meanwhile, I was working at an urgent care so I decided to go in a different field which was caregiving. I did that three years ago, and I've loved it ever since.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to be patient, to always be on time, and to listen to the patient or the client.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget was a woman I would call Grammy. She liked me to call her Grammy because she felt like I was more like her family than a caregiver. She was always smiling, and she had a sweet tooth, and she was a very loving and patient woman. And I will never forget her.
