Hi. My name's Miguel. I live in Los Banos, CA and I've been a caregiver for a little under a year.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my sisters inspired me to do so. They're LVNs and I wanted to join them in the medical profession because the stories that they've been telling me - of course, not violating HIPAA - but they would tell me part of their experiences and they inspired me because I wanted to see joy in those experiences as well, and to help the people who need assistance.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to not spread themselves too thin. To take their steps one at a time. And everybody makes mistakes in the beginning, that it's perfectly normal. The point is that we're supposed to learn from our mistakes and we get better at those [?] in the system. And to give the best care that we can to each resident as we go.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I would never forget is David, because he lightens up my day every time I go to work, and he makes me laugh and enjoy, and reminds me of why I wanted to become a CMA and work in the medical profession to begin with
