My name's Mimi Hulse. I live in San Jose, California. I have working experience of four years with senior care.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became caregiver because two elders I worked for were such a great individuals to know and to share time with. Also their families and because I enjoy so much caring those individuals because I can give exceptional care for them.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to new caregivers would be, be sensitive, and gentle, and understanding. Being sensitive toward your clients is very important, I think. You can detect any changes in their emotions and physical conditions, so be sensitive enough and understanding. And always in gentle caring manner.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Masami. I worked for Masami 18 months. When he was already 11 years stroke survivor. Took him to OT, speech therapy, daily exercises. And during the 18 months, his health declined, but some morning he didn't want to get up, but he would. And the entire 18 months I worked for him, he never ever complained about anything. Everything about him was very unforgettable for me.
