Hi, my name is Mimi. I live in South San Francisco, CA and I have been a caregiver for 10 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because it's my profession. I graduated in a foreign country as an RN, and I took some time off after failing two times in a row for taking the exams. And this is my passion to take care of the elderly.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, you should be passionate with your work. Be patient, that is the most important, and understand what your patients feel. And most especially, love the person you're taking care of.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is this person I chose because she was special and very memorable to me. I've worked with her for seven years and her name is Gladys from San Mateo. I chose her because she was kind, warm hearted person, had a beautiful family, very understanding, very generous. She had Alzheimer's, and I was with her until her last breath.
