Hi, my name is Nancy. I live in Palmdale, CA. I've had eight years of experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver due to the fact of taking care of my parents, also taking care of adults with disabilities and children with disabilities. I also had my own childcare and I've also been a foster parent. So, caregiving has always been a part of my life.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, be patient, be caring, be understanding and know that it's hard for seniors or people with disabilities to give up their independence. So you have to be generally very patient, kind-hearted and loving.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget, he was very kind, very loving and warm. I don't remember his name, I just remember him. He made sure that when I came in, I was very welcome. His family made sure I was very welcome. He was a very kind man, he made me understand that when he started his own business, he only had 50 cents every day for a cup of coffee and a doughnut until he made his company big and great. A very touching and very warm man. His family was very warm.
