Hi, my name is Naomi. I live in Santa Maria, CA and I have about 28 years of caregiving experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I cared for a family member which is my grandfather, 28 years ago, he had cancer and I took care of him for about a year and after that, I decided to continue on in the same field. I enjoy working with the elderly, I enjoy helping and I enjoy my job.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a caregiver would be that you need to have patience, understanding, and love for the elderly. With those three things, I believe that you could become the best caregiver that you could be and help these clients with their needs.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Leona who passed away about two months ago against cancer. She was the greatest inspiration to me. She was 94 when she passed and despite her condition, she woke up every day and faced the new day with a smile. Put her feelings aside and I just enjoyed going to her home and seeing her and making her smile.
