Hi, my name is Natalia. I live in Pasadena, CA and I've been a caregiver for eight years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my grandmother fell ill three years ago, and I've been taking care of her ever since. I have love for seniors and a love for children, so I've been doing it for years now. And I really appreciate the work and it's very uplifting to help someone in need. And I currently work at Bella Vista in Pasadena, CA and I am doing the same work. I have been here for two years now, but currently, I have been all-around caregiver for eight years.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, be very patient with the residents, make sure you listen and have full details of anything, if they have any problems, make sure you jot down any information about them. Make sure you just love them and have compassion for them, and be very patient.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Margaret. She has been at this residence at the Bella Vista for five years and she has Alzheimer's. And I try to uplift her and bringing her new things that she can have, which is sippy for her diet. I try to help her, bring her crossword puzzles, and just try to have fun with her.
