Hello, my name is Natalie. I live in Irvine and I have 3 years experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because originally I did start working and helping with family members and then I moved on to senior care which I had worked with one specific couple for two years. They were both 90 years old and ever since that position, I just knew that that's what I loved to do. So that's what I want to continue doing and I just can't express how rewarding that job is to me.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be definitely really getting to know who they're working with. Patience is key and you have to naturally be a loving and caring person or it's just not the job for you. I would say, definitely pay attention to what they are needing and how they like things to be done to make them as comfortable as you possibly could.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Elenor. I just absolutely adored working with her every day. I just can best describe that she was almost like a best friend to me. It was so enjoyable to go and spend time with her. Honestly, she was like a 30-year-old trapped in a 90-year-olds body. She was just so sharp and witty and sweet and I just have so many memorable stories to share about her. I don't know that there's time on the recording but I just absolutely adored and loved her.
