Hi, my name is Nina. I live in Los Angeles, CA and I've been in caregiving service for over 20 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver when my grandmother became ill when I was a little girl. I took of care of her on a daily basis and from that point on, I knew my calling was to take care of the elderly.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, be patient, try to understand where they're coming from, know that one day we will be in the same position as them and we would want someone like ourself to take care of us.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
My most memorable client, her name was Barbara. She had Alzheimer's. She was the most caring and loving person I've ever met. She was always apologizing for forgetting and carrying on from time to time. She was such a funny lady. I will never forget her as long as I live and I told Barbara, the day she took her last breath, I will always remember her till the day I die.
