Hello, my name is Nino. I live in Palm Springs, CA and I've been a caregiver for three years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I was taking care of family members that were sick, and they passed away. And I think it's a good thing to do for people that you love and people that you care and other people as well.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to be patient, compassionate, and treat the client as you would like to be treated as well.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget is a very good friend of mine who passed away 10 years ago from HIV. He lost his mind. He had dementia, and when I came to see him he didn't recognize me when he talked to me. And I took him back home to his family, but he passed away eventually. I will never forget that. When you are sick and not being able to take care of yourself affects many people around you in your lifetime.
