About
Hi. My name is Nizi. I'm from Los Angeles, CA. I have been a caregiver for 2 years.

How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I was referred to by a family friend, that knows somebody who owns a business in caregiving. So I went to the interview and they told me what it was about. I was hired from the start. I became a caregiver because first, it was a job, but then it became a passion. It became something that I actually enjoyed doing.

What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice for a new caregiver would be to go in with open heart and open mind. And to really go in knowing that you're not just going to work just to make money, but you're actually going in to really care for somebody that used to be able to do it for themselves but can no longer do it because of age, or because they are sick, or because of Alzheimer's, and just different things that are happening to them that was not what they were before. You have to go in with an open mind and just being able to be caring - they have to be caring - be loving. Consider them your family.

Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget is Jane. Jane was my first person that I ended up being with for two years. Usually, this job will change you around different clients, but because of, I guess, how I became attached, we became a very good match, me and Jane, and ended up staying with her for two years. And I will never forget her because at first Jane was very shy. She was shy because she was taking care of herself since she was at least 90 years old. And then all of a sudden she had some problems where she needed a caregiver. So basically, the whole being taken care of was very new to her. It was not very easy for her. It was not very comfortable. But we became so close because of the way I was able to communicate everything, the way I was able to clarify some things for her to feel better. We became good friends. I will never forget Jane because whenever we would tell a good story and I would make her laugh, I just would love seeing her smiley face. I loved to see when she's grinning from ear to ear. That was my favorite thing with Jane. It still is my favorite thing even when I visit her. I'm able to still make her laugh. I still make her feel happy, and feel appreciated, and feel loved, and really feel cared for.
