Hi. My name is Patrice. I live in Los Angeles, CA and I've been a caregiver for more than 12 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my father became ill, and after he passed away, a family friend asked me to help him with his wife. And I've always been a loving, caring person, and so it just came very natural for me to go into this career, and it just kind of escalated into many other beautiful people to take care of.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice for a new caregiver would be to be very patient, loving, and very kind. And also listen to the client's needs and happiness so that you can be a great caregiver.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
Well, I have many clients that I would never forget. But one in particular case is a lady that had severe scoliosis, and I used to take her to Bingo and to the park. We would go out and laugh and have wonderful stories every week. And to this day I miss her dearly. She brought a lot of joy to me, as I know I did to her.
