Hello, my name is Patricia. I live in Montebello, CA and I've been a caregiver for six years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I wanted to help other people. And since I started six years ago, I noticed that it's changed a lot with my mother, with my father. It made me appreciate them a lot more. That's the reason I became a caregiver, and that's the reason I am still a caregiver.
What advice would you give a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver is to pay attention to each patient as if they were your family members. Pay attention to each detail and what they do on a daily basis. Get to know them. So makes your job a little bit easier also.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Lucille. Every time I would go into work she would be so excited knowing that I was coming to work that day because I knew exactly what she wanted, I knew exactly what she needed, and she would get other nurses and they would give her a hard time. So every time I would go to work, she'll try to help me in anything with my other patient. She was so grateful with me
