Hi, my name is Patrick. I live in Santa Rosa, CA and I've been a caregiver for 18 plus years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because of my late years after high school, I've been wanting to serve people, community, and not only that I'm a pastor for a church and I do have the passion. That passion continues til today that I love to work and communicate with people. I have a heart for the people.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be is this line of work requires a lot of patience and you've got to have a heart for this job to have a passion. And, the second this is you've got to learn to communicate with the patients regardless of what they have or the age, to communicate and and learn to know them better.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client that I would never forget would be Frank. This was like a month ago. What inspired me is the heart that he has, patience. What I learned from him is he's a very outspoken patient and he does what he's told. It's just easy to communicate with him. One thing I will never forget about him is the heart that he has, very down to earth. He communicates and he has the ability to do positive things and to get better. He has the ability to move on and to feel better.
