Hi. My name is Pauline. I live in El Sobrante, CA and I have been a caregiver for four years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I am a nursing student and I was inspired to become a caregiver through what I was learning about the elderly and the anatomy of the human body.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to ask oneself why the person is becoming a caregiver, and if it's just about the paycheck then don't it because it's not good for the people that are being cared for. They're people, they're humans, and you have to care and love in order for you to do your job the right way.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I'll never forget is one client that I had last year who was very confused. She was in her early stages of dementia and was so confused, and other people were taking it personally. And then in times when she would come out of it, she would just be like a child. She doesn't even know what was going on. She doesn't even know what she was doing. I think that's one of my most memorable moments with a client.
