My name is Paulo Jimenez. I live in San Jose and I have seven years of experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because when my son was six years old when I took care of him and that was the time that I needed a part time job. I needed to be able to take my son to school and back so being a caregiver gave me that opportunity to be with my son. So I have 12 years of experience. I acquired a lot of training and also it makes me really happy to help people.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice for any caregiver is to be ready always to jump into any task that has been given and to be ready to give all because you're helping people. When you see a smile on faces it's a happy moment for the caregiver to be in that position and to think you're making a difference. You're getting paid to make a difference in people's life.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget, it's a young lady who looks around mid-age. Because I was transferring to another job, she started crying when I told her that I was going to move to another job. I told her that she needed to be happy for me and I told her that I was going to visit her. It was a very special moment for me. A little sad also but I told her that I will visit her and she was going to be fine and I that it needed to be done for my life and she understood afterwards and she was happy and laughing.
