Hi, my name is Peter. I live in Clovis,CA. I've worked for two years as a caregiver.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I've been in the ministry for a very long time and that has been my call as a minister and as a pastor. I've worked in several churches and that has been my aspiration even to care for others. So that is my gift and that is the skill I have to care for others that are less privileged and those who need care.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver is to be committed and be hardworking and be focused. And also to be time conscious in everything that he or she does. Also to be effective and be able to work to the task that he has called for as a caregiver.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client that I will never forget, he is John, that I worked with in a facility. I always love to help him in everything because I have a passion for him. He has been a person who is willing to learn from me and he love the way I help him. So he always wish that I'm being posted to his line so that I can care for him. So he wanted to learn more from me because of the way I worked with him. I always ask him some of the question what he wants and how he feels and what I can do to assist and help him more and make him to achieve what he need to have in life as a person. So that really motivated him to move closer to me, willing to share even his idea, his own experience with me, and I really like it. He has been a good a client and really I've been trying to learn more from him and also he also learn a great deal from me.
