Hi, my name is Randall. I live in Covina, CA. I've been a caregiver for two years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I got the chance to become a stay-at-home dad and doing that inspired me to want to continue to take care of people and help them.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be always stay calm, and have everything you need already prepared. If you get stressed, the patient will sense that you're stressed, and become even more stressed than you are. You have to stay calm and if you have everything prepared you don't have to make multiple trips in and out of a room, which adds to their anxiety.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Bill. He had pneumonia, was diagnosed with pneumonia in the hospital when I was there with him and he started crying. And I was just so glad I was able to be there with him during that whole ordeal for him because he was very, very scared.
