Hi, my name is Rayneisha. I live in Fresno, CA and I have been a caregiver for two years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my grandma was found with cancer about three years ago and I was wanting to be a part of the experience and help her get through it the best way that we knew how. I decided to become a caregiver.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to always be understanding, to love the job that you are doing because you really are the one that's going to be there to make a difference in the person's life. So just be understanding. Be caring. The most important part of a caregiver is to be caring.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I never will forget is Patricia. She was about 63 years old. She had Parkinson's. She was my most recent client. And just a story that I can think of, of the many memorable moments we had, would be one when she kind of started going through a declining stage where the speech was, it was starting to leave her. She was having trouble finding the words as often. So we kind of just overcame this barrier for us to communicate with each other.
