Hi, I'm Reggie. I live in Richmond, CA. I've been a caregiver for 6 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I've been taking care of my grandparents for 12 years, way back in the Philippines. And also I really love and I really enjoy working with elderlies. Because I love my grandparents so much. That's why when they passed away I promise them that I'm going to be a good caregiver. Not only for them but also for the others.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice with a new caregiver could be you have to have more patience, be loving, be compassionate, be loyal, and be faithful, and honest to all your clients. And please, be sensitive to their needs. Because they really need a buddy. Especially for clients who are demented or having dementia and alzheimer's. Treat everybody with love, respect, and kindness.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will not forget is Kiyoko. She is very kind. Always smiling at you. Every time she saw you, she kept on calling my name and always a smile. I never forget her beautiful face. She's very appreciative. She always says thank you for everything you've done to her. She's really adorable. I really miss her now that she passed away. I know in my heart, I will always remember Kiyoko.
