Hi, my name is Regina. I live in San Francisco and have 4 years caregiving experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my grandmother needed someone to care for her. After I took care of her, I started caring for other clients that had diabetes, dementia, heart issues and other ailments.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
Be patient and be present. It takes a lot of energy to care for someone. When one does it right and one does it with love it is much more rewarding.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
I will never forget Rebecca. We had such a great connection and we had great conversations. Once a week we would play cards in Spanish because she wanted to improve her Spanish and i am fluent in Spanish so it worked out. One of her friends would come over, she would sing "La Cucaracha" it was really a great way to end the week. They were moments I will never forget.
