Hi. My name is Renae Johnston. I live in Morgan Hill, and I have been a caregiver for one year.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my grandmother became very ill with dementia, so I stayed home to take care of her.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caretaker would be to always stay calm and patient. Some elderly, especially with dementia, can get really mean and loud. Just always stay patient and calm, and it'll keep them calm as well.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client I remember is my grandmother. She became very ill with dementia. It was very hard to care of her, but as long as I stayed calm and happy, she would normally be in a good mood.
