Hi, my name is Rhonda. I've been a caregiver for three years and I live in Spring Valley, CA.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I took care of my aunt, who was a diabetic and a double amputee, and I did it in a token of my love to her and it inspired me to be a caregiver/home health aide. I love the job. I love taking care of people.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to have patience and compassion. It's not an easy job, but the rewards are fulfilling.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is my most recent client and how she started out as a strong, able person. And to watch her decline really hurt me but my compassion for her got me to that job. To watch her suffer, it really did a number on me. But I was able to get past that and do my job and fulfill my requirements in taking care of her. I love her to this day and I also miss her.
