Hi, my name is Robert. I live in Monterey Park, CA and I've been a caregiver for six years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver, because it is rewarding to me. It also motivated me to go back to school to get my nursing degree.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver is to treat each client individually, because each individual is different, and it takes a little time to get to know the certain individual. And once you get to know what they like and how they like things to be done, it gets a lot easier.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is a 90-year-old client, and I was doing some light cooking for him. Then in the middle of the cooking, he kind of came over and wanted to help out in a way where he did the cooking himself, so what I did was I kind of stood back and kind of looked out to see if he needed any assistance. But you know, he did so well, and I was so proud of him, and even forgot that I was even working in the first place.
