Can you tell me a little about yourself and how you got into caregiving?
Hi, I am Rowena, and I live in Castro Valley, California, and I'm a CNA caregiver for ten years now. I become a caregiver because I love taking good care of elder people, and I love being with them. I love being a caregiver.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The first one that I had as soon as I graduated from my nursing school, and his name is Robert, and he's from Rossmoor in Walnut Creek. The reason I never forget him is because he treated me like his own daughter. I worked for him for seven years
What piece of advice would you give to a new caregiver?
What is your proudest moment as a caregiver?
If the patient don't want to do something, don't want to take a shower, don't want to eat, or don't want to go outside, just don't force them. Leave them for a while, then go back again.
So, the moment that it makes me proud to be a caregiver is at least to give them happiness, attention, and quality time.
