How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I was told I have compassion and empathy for the elderly population. That is why I became a caregiver. And I love it each and every day.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, take care of the person like they are your grandmother or grandfather. That is what I was told when I first started out in the business. And if you respect the person that you're taking care of, and you have passion and empathy, just remember, it could be your grandmother or grandfather.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget, her name is Kathy. I had to get her in the shower. We did that every Monday with her. And once I got a rapport going with her, we would always laugh. We'd like to dance. So it made me feel good, knowing that she trusted me to help her shower. Kathy has Alzheimer's. She was 65. And that always brought a smile to my face, knowing that I got that in return with her since she trusted me. And I trusted her
