Hi, I'm Ruci. I live in San Pablo, CA and I have experience of 15 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I used to take care of my mom and I was really impressed when she said she think I have a calling of a patient. I've been patient for the job and I love caring for people.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver is just to verify yourself or attend to a client you went to, you should be patient with the client and you need to have a respect to them and their surrounding.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I wouldn't forget is a client that was referred to me. I was told to take care of her for only a day because she is going to go on the next day, so the husband was crying so hard and I just went to the husband and say that doctors don't know your days. Only one knows the days you come and the days you go. I'll try my best to help you so that you can see your wife again. So this client, she pulled out the tube next morning and it's the day that I was told she's going to die. So I stand up and I said, "Oh, my god." So I just mix an ice cream and a pudding and so thin in liquids and I started giving it to her back. I was happy that this client live again for another six months. So we had a good time, she's outside in the sunshine so her husband, keep on crying and say thank you. It made me feel good and I never forget that indifference when people or doctors say that you have time to go and it's not true. That way, we know that we people, we don't know when to go because only God knows when we come and when we go. Our days to go. It was very interesting and I will never forget it.
