Hi, my name is Sabrina. I live in Fresno, CA and I've been a care provider for eight years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a care provider because when I was 12 years old, I watched my mother work as one for many years and I always wanted to help people and later, when my mother got sick, I offered to help her as well and that's how I got into the business.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to always listen first, pay attention to the signs of distress, always make sure that you're following all directions and remember to be very compassionate to the patient's situation.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget, his name is Albert and he was a really sweet person. He was really self-sufficient but he also needed help at the same time but he never wanted to take it. Even though he was going through so much pain, he was always very nice to me and always took my advice as well so we really became sort of close in that kind of way and I'll never forget him because he's the sweetest person I've ever met.
