Hello, I'm Sandra. I live in San Lorenzo, CA and I've been a caregiver for about 2 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I took care of my grandparents for about two and a half years, and I absolutely fell in love with taking care of them and helping them out with whatever they needed.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be do what you love, and go in with your head up so you can do your job.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client that I would never forget is Audrey, and I took care of her at a retirement home for about a couple of months before I switched apartments. She was very sweet, very generous and just the nicest person and just very loving. We got along very well. I knew her routine. As soon as I got in her room to wake her up in the morning she would already be up, sitting up in her bed, and it would be the most nicest, wonderfulest way to work with the resident. When she would wake up she would say, "Good morning, my dear. How are you doing?" When I left for work, she would be sad that I was leaving but very touched that I was taking my time taking care of her and helping her with everything that she needed. I do that with all my residents. I did that with every single one of my residents. I took my time. I got to know every single one of them, but the one that really stood out to me the most would be her, Audrey. To this day, I hope she's doing fine just living her life to the fullest.
