Hi, my name is Sara. I live in Los Angeles, CA and I have four years experience as a caregiver.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my grandmother had a bad fall and I took care of her. I actually moved in with her and took care of her. And also I work for a nonprofit organization called WCIL where we help people with disabilities and senior citizens.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to do it from the heart. Do it because you care and think of it as you are taking care of your mother. And also, you need to have a lot of time, patience, and compassion.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Helen. Helen used to wait for me at her front door and when I walk in, she would say, "Let the marching band begin. My Sara is here and my smile is now here.
