Hi. I'm Savannah. I live in San Diego, CA and I've been a caregiver in Neurotech for one year.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver, originally, to help a family member. I'm not officially certified, but I've worked with a lot of patients in internships ranging from autistic children to veterans with PTSD and seniors, as well and it brings me so much joy to help people in need.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
The advice that I would give to a new caregiver is, be as open-minded as possible and to think about what kind of care they would give or if they were in the same position as a patient.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client / patient that I will never forget was Barbara, and she would come into the place that I had worked last summer, it was actually the Benjamin Center, and she mostly just wanted somebody like a companion and just wanted somebody to talk to. And she always explained her life stories to me, and it's like I learned so much from her just spending a few hours a day with her.
