Hi, my name is Sebrina. I live in North Park, CA. I have seven years of experience in caregiving.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I started taking care of my grandparents. I find that taking care of others and helping others is my passion. I tried to work in retail, warehouse, cook, and stuff like that, you name it. It just wasn't for me. Although I do love cooking for others, I really enjoy helping and making a person's day bright and make them happy, feel comfortable and just know that I could be there.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to make sure you do your research before you do anything. Have a lot of patience and if the job is not for you, then don't force it. Have a big heart for those who are in certain situations. You can't think that it's an easy job. Care for them as if you would care for your loved ones.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget is Ms. Dorothy. She is a sweet woman. She just brings joy to my heart. I loved about her was she believed in me and she trusted me in her care. Another person is Mr. Clyde. He's such a really sweet gentleman. I would say he understands well, really cooperative. These are the clients that I see as my own grandparents. They're really sweet. I enjoyed taking care of them and do anything to make their lives different with so much joy.
